Value of design surpasses in To-B products

For years, design is always in a lower priority in To-B (business) industry. The "big brothers" in this industry were successful mostly because of their advanced technology and accumulated professional functions, rather than user-friendly designs and usability. The barriers of the product usability sometimes even became an entry barrier or job qualification for the related professional.



However, the world is a little bit different now, since the succeed of Zoom. The web conferencing market was always dominated by large companies through their brand value, the powerful ecosystem and their cooperation with each other. But Zoom introduced a dramatic change to the competitors, mostly by simplified workflow. The new dark horse enjoyed the biggest market segment now. We can see how the value of usability surpassed the value of brand in this case. I believe there will be more cases in different areas of business digital solutions in the very near future.
